Prequel update

1 - The beat sheet for the Hellbound prequel with the working title 'In Extremis' is almost finished and looking good.

'In Extremis' will be a short story detailing the birth of one of the pivotal characters in Hellbound and will be set around one of histories most important and recognised figures (the cover gives a clue if you can work it out but not to the character it is concerning, only one involved in the story…a good one mind) and…that's about all I can say with out giving anything anyway and inadvertently spoiling Hellbound!!!

2 - One the sequel note (prequel, sequel..can you get a threequel?), 'Limbo State; Book Two in the Hellbound trilogy is in it's early stages of being drafted. I have the story framework, my antagonist who may well be worse than Obadiah Stark and raft of interesting characters thanks to your good selves!!

C - I have a nearly completed beat sheet for my other novel 'Pathogenicity' which will be a stand alone story and deal with a highly developed infection (something close to my heart and topical at the moment given all the Ebola concerns)  a conspiracy (what else!!) and the possibility that it means something more terrifying for its host than simply a fever and bad skin!!! The story takes the reader from the days of Florence Nightingale up the the present day and should have some nice body horror aspects to it (think The Fly crossed with Outbreak with a little Three Days of Condor thrown in).

Once 'In Extremis' is completed, 'Limbo State' will be next followed by 'Pathogenicity'. Should keep me out of trouble for a while.

(The 1,2,C thing is a Doctor Who reference...I know, geek!)

Character requests

Okay, following my request for anyone who would like to be in the follow up to Hellbound, here are the lucky individuals (or unlucky depending on what I decide to do to/with them).

In no particular order -

Rebecca Sill - suggested reporter; I think I can do that!!

Beverley Brown - willing victim; sold

Natalie O'Hagan - haven't decided but happy for suggestions!!

Marie (Maz) - can easily fit a mad character in

Joanne Charlton - have a perfect exposition character for you

Louise Hunter - something special for you I think Lou!!

Lyndsey Currie - had a think, but struggled to work out how I could fit a silent but deadly hypnotic witch (your suggestion) into the fairly grounded plot…will try and work something out

Andy Phillips - bent police officers are always welcome. Not certain about a redemptive arc…plays much better that you're just dodgy!!! But can certainly have you uncover something pivotal!!

Kelly - you already have a little role in Hellbound, however if i do a time travel storyline I can have you meet yourself (two Kelly's...the mind boggles!)

I think that would about cover it. Alongside the characters who have to be involved from Hellbound anymore and I will be overcrowding ala Spiderman 3 and Batman and Robin (bad example I realise).

As Louise and Kelly can attest, some of the victims who met their fates at Obadiah's hands in Hellbound were granted an unpleasant death, though many were pretty straightforward, nothing exciting but served their purpose.

Everyone will have a chance to see their character profile before hand (no changing name, sex or dominant hand use). I am currently working on the prequel novella so it will be later this year'early next year but worth the wait I promise!!

My first publishing deal!!!

So, thanks to Britain's Next Bestseller, friends, family and ardent supporters (named and anonymous) a fortnight ago I was lucky enough to be given my first publishing deal.

60 plus literary agent rejections later…not bad. I was hoping to beat Stephen King's rejection total and I think I smashed it so really pleased about that.

Hellbound will be making its way into homes from the 28th November (well, it will if anyone buys it) unless you were lucky enough to pre order it and then you may be able to take a journey with Obadiah Stark a little sooner.

Seriously though, none of this would have been possible without you, fine readers of this blog (assuming there are any) and one Louise Hunter. I owe my dream to you and those of you who pre ordered Hellbound…thank you so very, very much.

Kelly might have helped with this mind…

(shameless exploitation of my unborn son)
